Bruce is a life-long competitive runner who has run for clubs in Australia, the U.S. and U.K. He really hit his stride as a masters runner, managing to PB in the marathon (2:46) at the age of 44. These days he runs for Old Xaverians and competes regularly in AthsVic races. He’s raced everything from 800m to the marathon and loves both track and cross country competition.
While living in the U.S., Bruce was president of Greater Boston Track Club and was coached by the legendary Tom Derderian. He’s a voracious reader of coaching books and over his long career has learned to value the importance of recovery as well as finding the right mix of volume and intensity for each individual. He also believes in developing the mental side of racing as a key ingredient to success.
